Joel Moser joins Bingham McCutchen

Moser, formerly co-chair of Fulbright & Jaworski’s global infrastructure group, has joined rival law firm Bingham McCutchen as a partner in its New York office. He will join Bingham’s energy and project finance group as part of the firm’s strategy of expanding its project finance practice.

Law firm Bingham McCutchen has hired Joel Moser, formerly co-chair of Fulbright & Jaworski’s global infrastructure group, as a partner to join its energy and project finance group. He will be based in its New York office.

Moser is a well-known figure in the US infrastructure market and has represented investment funds, banks, governments and agencies, public and private businesses and non-profit enterprises in infrastructure investments and transactions across transportation, energy, education, and water sectors. He served as lead counsel in the financing of the New York Mets baseball team’s new $1 billion, 45,000-seat Citi Field stadium.

“Joel is an authority in the infrastructure, energy and project finance fields,” said Tara Higgins, co-leader of Bingham’s energy and project finance group, with Barry Direnfeld, co-leader of Bingham’s corporate area adding: “Joel’s arrival underscores our commitment to growing one of our leading practices.”

In January, Bingham hired Jacob Worenklein, founder and ex-chief executive of US Power Generating and founder of law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy’s project finance practice, to join its New York office.

Bingham has advised on a number of project finance transactions, with recent deals including representing Astoria Energy II in connection with a gas-fired electric generation facility in New York. The firm counts 1,100 lawyers across the US, Europe and Asia. It opened a new office in Frankfurt last month, Bingham said in a statement.
